

Can you hear the drums?
Every afternoon and night in the first weeks of August you could hear it. The pounding. It was constant and almost calming. The sound moved throughout El Sauce, but no one ever mentioned it's presence. It was as normal as the birds chirping and dogs barking. After two weeks, you became numb to it. This pounding was the sound of children of all ages practicing at their schools. They were preparing for the parade on September 14th to commemorate the Battle of San Jacinto. This


El Sauce: The Land of Honey
This cultural article was written by one of our English students, Cesar Marin who studied with Enlace Project for four years before moving on to use his English skills for a job in Managua. Honey is an important agricultural product for El Sauce. Thanks to the laborious activity of producing honey/beekeeping El Sauce has had the opportunity to grow economically. Francisco is a member of our second level English class and has been studying with us for about two years. He is also a member, and lead singer, of the band Portal Heaven.
